Creative Apprentices

Create Gloucestershire secured investment of over Ā£100,000 from the Creative Employment Programme to create 40 employment opportunities in the cultural sector for 18-24 year olds. This enabled us to support talented young people with ambition and experience, to create the sector of tomorrow in Gloucestershire. The Summerfield Trust and Ambition Giving supported a new branch of the project; creating placements for young people facing the greatest barriers to work and enabling sole traders and rural creative businesses to take on a young person for the first time.

40 young people have taken part in paid internships and apprenticeships through a consortium of 21 employers. Many employers were SME's and would not have take on a young person in their own right.  Over half of them were offered contracts with their current employer or have taken further training or internships.

CGā€™s priority is to ensure there are equitable routes into creative employment across the county, and help develop a talented workforce to sustain the cultural sector.
