Creative Apprentices

Create Gloucestershire secured investment of over £100,000 from the Creative Employment Programme to create 40 employment opportunities in the cultural sector for 18-24 year olds. This enabled us to support talented young people with ambition and experience, to create the sector of tomorrow in Gloucestershire. The Summerfield Trust and Ambition Giving supported a new branch of the project; creating placements for young people facing the greatest barriers to work and enabling sole traders and rural creative businesses to take on a young person for the first time. 

40 young people have taken part in paid internships and apprenticeships through a consortium of 21 employers. Many employers were SME's and would not have take on a young person in their own right.  Over half of them were offered contracts with their current employer or have taken further training or internships.

CG’s priority is to ensure there are equitable routes into creative employment across the county, and help develop a talented workforce to sustain the cultural sector.
