Free Sector Matters: Schools Seminar

Create Gloucestershire is working with RIO to deliver a bespoke seminar on schools and educational changes, and the implications for the cultural sector, here in Gloucestershire.

Date: Monday 29th April 2013

Time: 10am-3.30pm

Venue: SGS College Stroud Campus, Stratford Road, Stroud, Gloucestershire GL5 4AH

Who's it for? Cultural sector and youth organisations in Gloucestershire

Sector Matters: Briefings

As part of its bridge role RIO has been running Sector Matters briefings up and down the region, with good feedback.  These briefings provide up-to-date and useful information on sectors outside the cultural arena – for example schools, health, housing – and give you an opportunity to talk about important issues and challenges facing your sector.

Sector Matters: Schools

Schools have reshaped, restructured, federated, cooperated, ‘academised’ and become free!

So, how do you, in an equally changing environment, keep up with the latest?  What do these changes mean for art, culture and creativity? And what are the challenges and opportunities to work with schools in new ways?

We will fill in the gaps and help make it easier to engage with and relate to schools.

What people have said so far:

“Informative and reassuring - a spur to be brave and get on with it. A challenge to work together and network to raise the profile and voice of young people in our world” - Sheila Snellgrove, Barbican Theatre, Plymouth

“This will really help us to better position ourselves within the sector and be more innovative in our approach to working with schools.” Jill Shonk - Gloucestershire Archives

If you are interested in attending, please email Mel Scaffold at mel.scaffold@creategloucestershire.co.uk to book a place by 24th April 2013.

This event is free to all members and associate members of Create Gloucestershire. To apply, email Mel Scaffold as above or go to creategloucestershire.co.uk/become-a-member to download a form.

FUNDING ADVICE SEMINAR

Grants for the Arts & Strategic Touring Fund

Free advice session for artists and arts and cultural organisations in Gloucestershire

DATE: Wednesday 1 May 2013

TIME: 2-5pm

VENUE: Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham

Grants for the Arts (G4A) is an Arts Council England funding stream that provides grants for a wide range of arts and creative projects. This session is for artists, practitioners and organisations who want to know more about G4A and explore if it could provide a source of funds for their creative ideas and projects.

The Strategic Touring Fund is designed to encourage collaboration between organisations, and is designed to enable improved access to great art in people’s local area. This includes more high quality art in places and for people with the least engagement in the arts, and stronger relationships between those involved in artistic, audience and programme development.

This session will outline the aims of both programmes, and enable you to hear about what makes a strong application.

This funding advice session will be run by Philip Butterworth, Lead Relationship Manager for Gloucestershire, Arts Council South West.

For more information about Arts Council funding programmes visit artscouncil.org.uk/funding/apply-for-funding/

One-to-one meetings: Following the session, Philip Butterworth will be happy to have one-to-one meetings to discuss potential applications to the programmes.

If you are interested in attending, and/or having a one-to-one meeting, please contact Paul Milton at the Everyman Theatre at paul.milton@everymantheatre.org.uk to book a place.

Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
