FINAL CALL FOR DIGITAL R&D FUND FOR THE ARTS

Have you considered applying for funding to experiment with digital technology? This is the final call for you to consider the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts  - England’s £7 million fund to support collaboration between organisations with arts projects, technology providers, and researchers.

The Fund is a three way partnership between Arts Council England, the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and Nesta, running for three years from 2012-2015.

They are looking to support projects that use digital technology to enhance audience reach and/or develop new business models for the arts sector. With a dedicated researcher or research team as part of the three-way collaboration, learning from the project can be captured and shared with the wider arts sector.

To get a flavour of what projects funded so far, visit the Native website where learning from all the projects is being published.

If you already have an R&D proposal in development, then that’s great – we look forward to receiving it.  The deadline for Expression of Interest applications to the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts is noon on 7th January 2014.

Proposals must relate to one of our 6 main themes. Looking back at the projects funded so far, we would also particularly welcome applications that seek to address the following:

  • successful international digital arts projects that could be tested for the first time in England
  • arts projects that focus on new business models by exploring new forms of digital infrastructures, such as superfast broadband or innovative online systems for ticketing or data capture
  • arts projects which will develop easily re-useable formats or technologies, such as tools for social media or shareable projects that will be tested across a number of organisations

Full details about the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts can be found at http://www.artsdigitalrnd.org.uk/

The Fund is also running upcoming workshop events to help people hone their proposals.
