GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL ENCOURAGES HLF WW1 BIDS

Gloucestershire County Council encourage you to apply for the grants currently being offered by the Heritage Lottery Fund to support local communities in commemorating the centenary of the First World War. In a statement Peter Jones, Deputy Chief Executive said,

4 August 2014 will mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War. The First World War changed Britain forever. It touched every family and affected every community. This centenary year provides the people of Gloucestershire with an important opportunity to pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of those who laid down their lives both in this conflict and others since.

This Council writes to Gloucestershire’s district councils, schools and community groups to encourage them to apply for the grants currently being offered by the Heritage Lottery Fund to support local communities in commemorating the centenary. This Council notes that grants are available from £3,000 to over £100,000, and hundreds of grants have already been awarded.
