Latest creative job opportunities for young people in Glos - in November 2015

It is a busy time for our Creative Careers programme, which is giving a new generation of young people in Gloucestershire a first step into the creative industries.

The programme is working - six of the original interns and apprentices who have completed their placements, have been offered paid work with their current employers. This is not only good news for the young person, it's great news for the sector as we diversify and refresh the talent pool.

Seven more young people have recently been recruited as interns and apprentices at Taurus Crafts, Artspace Cinderford, New Brewery Arts, Stroud Valleys Arts (SVA) and Wychwood Arts.

Jodie Sutton, creative apprentice at New Brewery Arts shares her experience so far: “I’ve just finished my first month working as New Brewery Arts’ creative apprentice. It’s so wonderful and inspiring to be working in a creative environment and helping people pursue their artistic talents with the many courses and workshops we run! I’ve already gained so much experience”.

Flying the flag for the Creative Careers work at Create Glos, Louise Bardgett, Project Manager  and current interns have been invited to a number of events such as Jobs Fairs at the JCP in Cheltenham, South Glos and Stroud College and more recently, Stroud Ambitions careers and information evening attended by over 750 young people and their parents/carers.

There are currently eleven new opportunities for young people up for grabs, with more in December 2015, including placements with Cheltenham Trust at Cheltenham Town Hall and The Wilson, Corinium Museum in Cirencester, GDance in Gloucester, Spaniel in the Works theatre company in Stroud,  Gloucester Museum and The Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury.
