An illustrated diary of artist development from Imogen Harvey-Lewis

by Imogen Harvey-Lewis

I was one of the first participants in a pilot Action Learning Programme run by Create Gloucestershire in 2015-  the programme is designed to support artists, producers and cultural workers in Gloucestershire, helping us all to connect across art forms and boundaries.

I have created a visual blog that reflects my experiences in this group.

The drawings came about as a physical route to my ability to engage with this talky/wordy process. I am a visual learner and find speaking in groups challenging and often inhibiting. Drawing is my fluid means of communication.  It allows me time to stop think and process information and to respond with consideration and validation - all qualities of good Action Learning. These drawings are a way for me to bring this new way of approaching issues and problems, within a talking group, back into my comfort zone. I have found them therapeutic, true, funny and very helpful. They represent a stream of consciousness, mildly edited, but very honest.

You can browse galleries of my visual blogs below, and more will be uploaded in the future.
