Can art and culture be (more) meaningful to more people if we re-think the boundaries placed around it - sectorial, geographical, hierarchical or political?
We think the arts and cultural sector needs to get out more! Most sectors probably do. So this Open Space is for anyone (whether you work in arts and culture or not) who cares about creativity and thinks there is a way of doing things better.
The possibilities for art to make a difference to people - in any setting you can imagine - are endless. Making things happen is down to individuals with imagination. People who look beyond what they know already. If we can get a whole bunch of people together in a room with the drive to do this, think about what we could change...
This is your opportunity to do just that, and in your own way: you set the agenda, you decide what you want to get done, and how, with whoever wants to work on it with you.
Theatre Bristol and Create Gloucestershire are jointly hosting this Open Space to bring people together from across the South West, to explore how we do (and don’t) connect with the places and communities around us, and to design new ways of living and working together.
We're interested in what happens when you look beyond the boundaries, real and imagined, that we all put in place. We are excited about the potential to dissolve cultural boundaries so they make more sense to artists and audiences as opposed to reinforcing traditional geographical, sectorial and political imperatives. If you are too, get stuck in and book below.
We're delighted that Nick Sweeting (Producer of Open Space innovators Improbable Theatre Company) will be facilitating the event.
