Caroline Summerfield

I have always loved the musicality of the spoken word - this is why I write plays.

I am a published playwright, who also directs and produces plays. As the founder of the Writers' and Directors' Network (WAD) I facilitate a professional network for stage, screen, film and television writers, directors, actors and producers to produce new work.  At our monthly meetings, new work is showcased prior to its submission to the industry. If you are interested in becoming part of the network please email your CV, website or agent's details.

My own plays have been produced by theatre companies and theatres in London, Birmingham and Cheltenham -

I studied playwriting at RADA and the University of Birmingham, where I was awarded a Masters in Playwriting in 2016. My plays include psychological and political dramas and I have been long listed for the Bruntwood Playwriting Award and the Alfred Bradley Radio Drama Award.

My first novel, The Letters of Junius (an adaptation of my stage play by the same name) was long listed for the Peggy Chapman- Andrews First Novel Award in 2016.   I am a finalist for the Terence Rattigan Playwriting Award 2017.

What people say about my work:  "It’s a bold and powerful play with much popular appeal – well acted, well directed and excellently scripted and crafted." (The Tree Charter Tapestry -Everyman Studio Theatre Cheltenham June 2017)
