Interested in becoming a Discover and Explore Arts Award Adviser?
Growing young people's skills, opportunities and leadership in the arts is vital to the future of culture in Gloucestershire. Arts Award is one of the ways we can help to make that happen. If you are interested in becoming a Discover and Explore Arts Award Adviser, then this training is for you.
Discover and Explore adviser training: www.artsaward.org.uk
Date: On Friday 27 February 2015 Time: 9.30am – 1.00pm
Cost: £64.25 per person (including refreshments and admin fee)

Arts Award's unique qualifications support young people to develop as artists and arts leaders. The programme develops their creativity, leadership and communication skills.
Advisers are crucial to Arts Award. They need to communicate with children and young people successfully and offer them effective support while they are working towards their Award. The Discover Award is aimed at 7- 9 year olds and Explore Award at 9 -11 year olds.
Taking place over a morning, you will:
- meet other professionals who are planning to run Arts Award in a wide variety of settings
- get your Discover & Explore adviser toolkit, which details what is required at each level
- become familiar with the assessment criteria and framework for each level
- learn how to be the primary assessor for young people's work for Arts Award
- ask questions about how Arts Award may work for you in your particular setting
- learn what happens next and how to move forward with Arts Award

Who’s it for?
This training course is specifically for adults who want to become Discover and Explore Arts Award advisers, which can include teachers and teaching assistants, youth workers, arts and music practitioners, arts organisations and venues working with young people in Gloucestershire.
Who’s it delivered by?
The training is led by Sally Clements, an Arts Award adviser herself as well as being a Trainer, Senior Moderator and Associate at Trinity College London where she undertakes a range of roles, from mentoring individual centres to build their Arts Award offer to researching future opportunities for the qualification to grow. When not supporting Arts Award she works across the south of England with a range of arts and cultural organisations, youth and education settings to develop their arts provision with children and young people. This includes working for the two Bridge organisations, RIO and Artswork. Sally applies this breadth of perspective to her Arts Award training to ensure that all advisers are able to understand the best fit for the Award and their own work and make concrete plans to take the forward.
'I found the training fantastic. Insightful and I learned a lot, and now feel better equipped to be an Arts Award Advisor!'
'Sally was a great source of knowledge and a fantastic mentor, I hope I get trained by her again!'
This is part of a series of training workshops offered jointly by Create Gloucestershire, Real Ideas Organisation (RiO), Make Music Gloucestershire (MMG) and Make Music Swindon (MMS). Ideas for future workshops include 'Getting Commission Ready' and 'Communications - honing your pitch'. More details on that and other forthcoming workshops to follow soon!
