Arts Admin intern at Prema Arts Centre

Terms: 26 weeks month contract starting 14th March 2016

Hours: 30 hours per week

Holiday Entitlement: 11 days over the 6 month period

Fee: £5.30 - £6.70 per hour (dependent on age)

Here’s a brilliant opportunity for a highly-organised, switched-on & enthusiastic, self-motivated individual (ideally a recent graduate) to work in one of the UK’s most playful, excitable and highly-regarded small arts organisations. Prema’s Arts Administration Intern will play a much-needed and appreciated key role within the arts centre’s small and friendly team. You will be based mainly in the administration office, supporting and liaising with your colleagues to ensure the seamless day-to-day running of this busy and popular arts centre.

The successful candidate will ideally be a recent graduate and have a demonstrable passion for the arts and be friendly, enthusiastic and sociable person who will effortlessly greet all visitors to the centre and deal cheerfully and efficiently with enquiries over the phone. We are seeking a young person who can work collaboratively with the existing staff team and visiting artists to help to prepare spaces and resource materials in readiness for our many exhibitions, events, performances as well as help with the planning and management of this busy arts centre and its broad, popular programme.

For the right candidate there will be opportunity to research and help select artists, makers and companies/bands for inclusion in the Prema programme. It is hoped that for an exceptional candidate that Prema may seek to create a more permanent post at the close of this internship; dependent upon finances and our confidence in the abilities of the young person.

This paid internship has been created as part of a consortium of arts providers in Gloucestershire, coordinated and supported by Create Gloucestershire and the Creative Employment Programme. The Creative Employment Programme is an Arts Council England fund to support the creation of traineeships, formal apprenticeship and paid internship opportunities in England for unemployed young people wishing to pursue a career in the arts and cultural sector. There are certain criteria you must meet in order to be eligible to apply for a Creative Employment Programme funded internship. At the time of applying you must be aged 18 to 24 years old and you must be registered as unemployed with Jobcentre Plus (and therefore in receipt of JobSeekers’ Allowance or Universal Credit). These eligibility criteria have been approved by the Department of Work and Pensions.
