Trainee Fundraiser intern - Gloucester Museum

Duration: Six month temporary contract

30 hours per week within normal office hours

GRADE A - £15,207 per annum pro rata

Location: Gloucester Museum, Brunswick Road, Gloucester, GL1 1HP

Gloucester Museums Service is seeking to acquire a trainee fundraiser on a six month internship to work closely with the Museum Manager and Gloucestershire Museum Development Officer, researching and writing funding applications in order to secure grants for improvements to the service. Gloucester Museums Service is part of Gloucester City Council.

The role will involve: 

  • Identifying suitable funding opportunities
  • Undertaking research as appropriat
  • Write tailored applications, addressing priorities or requirements as specified by individual funding organisations, in order to optimise the chances of success 
  • Follow up applications and build relationships with representatives of funding organisations 
  • Maintain accurate records 
  • Undertake training as appropriate and as agreed with the Museums Manager


  • Skills Required:
  • Educated to A level or degree 
  • An appreciation of our cultural heritage and a love of museums
  • Excellent communication and research skills
  • Able to read and understand large amounts of formal written material, and extract information easily 
  • Able to write concisely with attention to detail 
  • Good time management 
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines 
  • Enthusiasm and a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Willingness to learn

This paid internship has been created as part of the Creative Employment Programme. The Creative Employment Programme is an Arts Council England fund to support the creation of traineeships, formal apprenticeship and paid internship opportunities in England for unemployed young people wishing to pursue a career in the arts and cultural sector.
