Open Call to Artists - Seed Funding and Artist’s Residency Opportunity

Strike A Light are working in partnership with Hawkwood College to support and develop the exciting energy and vision of artists making live performance in the South West.

What we can offer artists:

We will award 5 artists from the South West region £300 of seed funding each to develop their ideas for new work.
Artists will also receive up to one week of studio space (dates to be negotiated between September-December '16) plus all board and lodging at Hawkwood College, Stroud.

Artists will have the option to either scratch their work during their residency facilitated by Strike A Light, or companies can choose to perform at a Strike A Light Scratch Night in December ’16. This will be discussed after successful applicants have been selected.

Some things to think about:

  • We are interested in performance that is contemporary, exciting, and has the potential to develop into a finished piece
  • This process is to develop new work and must not have had significant public exposure prior to this opportunity
  • The residency aims to give artists the opportunity to have time and space away from their usual environment and obligations and provide a space for reflection, research, and collaboration
  • We are particularly interested in receiving applications from artists from diverse backgrounds

If you have a piece in development or a new idea you would like to share, please get in touch.

Send us a CV plus one side of A4 outlining:

  • What you want to explore during the residency
  • How you would spend the £300 seed funding
  • Who you will work with
  • What your professional aspirations are and how being part of this opportunity will help you achieve them.

Send it to by no later than 2 August 2016, 5pm. Successful applicants will be notified by 5 August 2016.
Please note, submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.
