Artists wanted for Stories without Books programme - Coleford Library

Stories without Books is a programme of workshops and events hosted in Coleford library, targeted at children and young adults and their families . The aim of the project is to inspire a love of reading for pleasure by taking away any fear or stigma attached to the written word.

The launch of the programme will be on Saturday 8 April as part of the BBC Get Creative weekend.  On this day we plan to host performances and 'have a go' sessions in alternative story telling such as Animation, Puppetry, Theatre, Music, Visual arts through drawing and Coding through programming stories.

We are seeking local artists, musicians, makers of all kinds to take part in this event and be involved in a rolling programme of work leading up to the Coleford Festival of Words.

Please contact  if you would be interested in taking part with some details about what your passion is and any expenses / fee involved in your participation.

Stories without Books is part of a pilot project, Art of Libraries with Gloucestershire Libraries and Information and Create Gloucestershire.  Over three years, in up to 6 early adopter libraries, projects will focus on work with babies, children and young people up to 25 years as well as their parents/carers.  Stories and books will provide a springboard into all kinds of creative activity such as dance, beatbox, photography, music and film.
