Arts Council Collection National Partners Programme - South West Museums & Galleries Wanted
Last week Arts Council England launched the Arts Council Collection National Partners Programme that will establish a network of three museums or galleries to exhibit and respond to the Arts Council Collection over a three-year period, from April 2019 until March 2020, raising the profile of the Arts Council Collection.
Funded by the National Lottery, the focus of the programme is to increase the number and diversity of people experiencing the Arts Council Collection in England and to support organisational development in regional art galleries.
By working in partnership with the Collection team at Southbank Centre and Longside Gallery, based at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the partners will produce exhibitions of the highest quality and reach new audiences through engagement activity.
We are looking for imaginative and collaborative approaches to exhibition and programme development, both with individual organisations and across the partnership once established. Innovative approaches that inspire audiences will be encouraged.
Potential applicants must demonstrate that they will utilise the collection to respond to the Creative Case for Diversity, whilst developing target audiences of local relevance. They should also consider how they will engage children and young people with their programmes.
Eligibility is as follows:
Organisations that have minimum visitor figures of 40,000 people per year
Organisations outside of LondonOrganisations which are National Portfolio Organisations or accredited museums
Organisations able to mount nine exhibitions between October 2019 and March 2022. Across the three years organisations are required to programme six major exhibitions (two per year). Major exhibitions should preferably occupy a gallery space of at least 150m2
Organisations who are able to invigilate exhibitions to government indemnity standards
Organisations that have experienced modern or contemporary art curators in postOrganisations that are not a national museum
Organisations that are able to meet Arts Council Collection loan standards or able to demonstrate how they would be able to improve facilities in order to meet these, using no more than £50,000 of the grant
We are not seeking consortium applications Applications are through a two-stage process via Expression of Interest (EoIs) . Successful applicants will be then invited to make a full application. £550,000 can be applied for. The deadline for EoIs is Tuesday 13 November 2018.
This is the second round of this programme and there has not yet been an Arts Council Collection National Partner in the South West so, please do share this fund far and wide.
