Looking for 10 sparky Gloucester young people to join events team

project wonder women - a century of women in film 1918 - 2018

Gloucester Guildhall and The Gloucester History Festival this summer are offering a new unique opportunity for 10 sparky people to join their events team to programme their first ever young people's film and events season.

We will be offering young people the chance to programme a season of films and events exploring the theme of inspirational women. This project will offer incredible opportunities for 10 young people, aged 16 - 30. We are looking for participants who have an interest in and want to develop skills in film programming and events management, who are excellent team players, and who are both creative and passionate about enhancing their career potential in the creative industries.

We plan for this project to lay the foundations for future regular events at the Gloucester Guildhall and The History Festival made by young people for young people, with future programming takeovers, outdoor screenings and immersive film events.

the brief
The programme will explore inspirational women in film and will look at a
mixture of influential and historical characters, actors and directors. From films
that empower women to footage of early films made by women, we will be
working in partnership with the Watershed in Bristol, the Gloucestershire
Archives and the Art of Libraries to uncover and widen our knowledge of film
and events.

the process
We want to recruit 10 people from across Gloucestershire who can demonstrate
a commitment to the project. We are looking for people who like to make things
happen, like to tell people about what they are doing and want to build skills in
combining film screenings with fun and quirky events - made by and for young

You might be studying or working so we are planning the project to be flexible
around your needs but to do this we need to know a little about you. We will
want to know about why you want to be part of the project and what your
availability is over July, August and early September, about any holiday and
work commitments. We want to know about your experience, be that in
watching film, talking / blogging about film or attending film or history events.
What do you enjoy and what are your passions.

If you are passionate about film and or history and want to put on events for
other young people, then please apply by sending a statement that tells us.

The team will meet though out July and early August to develop ideas, go on
trips and to devise the programme of films and events. The screenings and
events will then take place during early September as part of The Gloucester
History Festival.

Project wonder women is supported by the Film Hub South West, Art of
Libraries and The Gloucester History Festival.
