JOB OPPORTUNITY: Heritage Manager (Maternity Cover) 0.8 FTE, Llanthony Secunda Priory Trust


Llanthony Secunda Priory Trust are looking for an enterprising and creative person for maternity cover for our Heritage Manager to deliver an ambitious Activity Plan as part of a National Lottery Heritage Fund project.

Working at the priory, a long overlooked and under-appreciated heritage site located in the regeneration area of Gloucester docks, the role will balance strong community engagement activities with the need to generate income from the site. The Trust is looking for an entrepreneurial individual with strategic foresight, strong organisational skills, experience and understanding of the cultural sector and a passion for engaging people of all ages with history and heritage.

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Work with the Trustees to deliver the public programme of heritage and arts events at Llanthony, already planned for 2019 including covering the Summer and Christmas programme

  • Plan/develop future activities and events for 2020 to fulfil the outcomes of the NLHF funded project

  • Lead on the recruitment, training and management of volunteers

  • Recruit and manage consultants and freelance artists as required to deliver the interpretation and public programmes and activities

  • Maintain links with City wide groups and organisations to foster collaboration and working partnerships (eg Gloucester Heritage Forum, Docks, Culture Trust, City Council, Civic Trust)

  • Maintain an active market presence through media, social media, Trust website, public engagement and articles promoting the project

  • Supervise the Heritage Administrator

  • Continue to monitor, report on and evaluate the Activity Plan including liaison with current supplier and event companies

  • Work at all times in accordance with the aims of LSP, and appropriate policies, particularly those for equality, diversity, safeguarding and health and safety
