Sally Gibson – Artistic Director, Artspace Cinderford
I have spent most of my working life in Community Arts, about which I feel passionate, with a brief sortie into teaching whilst my adopted daughter was young.
After gaining a BA in Drama from Exeter University I started working in Community Arts with Community Inter-Action in London and went on to set up participatory drama / music project ‘Magic Carpet’ (Exeter), before taking a PGCE and spending a few years teaching whilst learning photography and trapeze. Then a few years touring festivals with a trapeze troupe and an MA in Theatre Studies whilst getting involved in Artspace as a photographer. I have worked as a part of the Artspace team since 1998; initiating Engage, the Youth Circus project in 2000 and building it ever since.
My roles with Artspace have been: Community Arts Development 1998-2004, Youth Arts Co-ordinator 2004 – 2010, and Artistic Director since January 2011.
