What is Arts Award?

Arts Award’s unique qualifications support children and young people to grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect to and take part in the wider arts world. The flexible framework, which is endorsed by Arts Council England, develops creativity, leadership and communication skills.

Arts Award is available at five levels, four of which are on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). The highest level carries UCAS points and there is also an introductory level. Young people can progress through all five levels, or start at any stage.

Why offer Arts Award as part of your creative practice?

  • accredit your existing arts offer - train as an Arts Award adviser and support the children and young people you work with to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

  • add value to your practice - using Arts Award’s flexible framework within your programme and projects will ensure measurable outcomes and reflection throughout.

  • work in partnership and kick-start a project - include Arts Award as part of your offer to help establish new partnerships with schools, libraries, youth programmes or arts and cultural organisations, and to attract participants to your projects.

Arts Award in Gloucestershire

To mark #Love Arts Award and the 15th year anniversary of Arts Award in 2020, Gloucestershire will be running a year long campaign to raise the profile of Arts Award and celebrate all the fantastic achievements, individual journeys and stories of schools, teachers, artists, arts and cultural organisations who have participated over the years.

To get the ball rolling, have a look at the short films, showing how Arts Award is being delivered in four different settings in Gloucestershire, or the first of our blog collection.

Want to share your story? We would love to hear from you, and how it has added value to what you do now.

Find out more how we are working together to pilot the NEW Glos Discover at Home award in our latest webinar with Real Ideas and Trinity College London, click here.

Discover at Home is now live!

Discover at Home is a special on-line version of Arts Award Discover, the first level of Arts Award and is aimed at children aged 11 and under (or anyone under 25 with additional needs). Arts Award is a set of awards for children and young people that gets them involved in and excited about arts and culture and celebrates their creative achievements.

Arts Award Discover at Home fits the bill, and is a fantastic way for children to be rewarded for the creative activities they enjoy. You can even get a certificate!

During Covid-19, it feels even more vital to highlight new ways to deliver the award remotely and engage families creatively while they are at home.

Find more information, and the Creative Challenges on the Discover at Home page.
