Making Sense - An Interactive Exhibition of Textile Paintings by Aly Lloyd
'Making Sense' is Aly Lloyd's debut solo exhibition of textile paintings, exploring how we see and sense.
Hosted at Sixteen Gallery (Montpellier, Cheltenham), this exhibition presents a series of light-responsive paintings, rendered onto tactile surfaces such as velvet, moire and denim that change with light and movement, and emphasise the experience of seeing, perception and the senses.
Bringing forward a philosophy of accessibility, participation and reconnecting art with the everyday, the exhibition invites viewers to engage their senses, physically alter surfaces through interactive works, and take part in how the work is valued through a dynamic pricing concept.
Dynamic Pricing
Building on an interest in how systems of display, language and value can distance art from people and everyday life, which inspired the launch of Aly's 'always open' studio in 2024, 'Making Sense' introduces a dynamic pricing concept that invites a more personal and participatory approach to collecting.
For this exhibition, each work is presented with a considered, accessible starting price, with collectors invited to make an offer above this based on their own response to the work. Works will be available from the start of the exhibition (Thursday June 25th, 10am) with offers made in person.
