This 1.5-hour session will take place indoors at the Chantry Centre — a simple, relaxed space to learn, play and experiment together, before bringing some of that energy out into the streets for Offbeat.
Open to all ages (recommended 7+), this is an intergenerational session — adults are encouraged to take part alongside children.
Together, you’ll:
– learn simple juggling techniques (throwing, catching, rhythm)
– explore how your body, objects and the environment connect
– play, experiment and create small sequences together
If the group feels up for it, we may take a short moment outside at the end to try things in the public space.
There will also be an opportunity (if you’d like) to be part of a small shared moment during Charles’ performance at Offbeat on Saturday 6 June — joining in with a simple, low-pressure action as part of the show.
About the Performance (this is your added layer)
Charles will be performing Grey Area at Offbeat, 6th June, Dursley — a playful, walkabout street performance using juggling, movement and public space to transform everyday streets into moments of surprise and connection.
Part performance, part spontaneous encounter, Grey Area unfolds across the high street — inviting people to pause, look again, and experience familiar places in a completely different way.
About the Artist
Charles Brockbank is a Bristol-based circus artist working across juggling, movement and public space. His work blends clowning, parkour and physical theatre to create playful, unexpected moments that invite people to see everyday spaces differently.
