Overview

CG’s Create Health strand of work tests and widens our understanding of ‘living well’. We view arts, creativity and culture as a fundamental helping to prevent poor health, supporting recovery and contributing towards a sense of wellbeing for individuals, communities, and places.

We know that there isn’t one solution to the complex problem of poor health. We believe that in developing diverse and interacting relationships, new patterns will emerge and through this learning we can address health inequalities across Gloucestershire. Our ambition is to shift culture and systems in the NHS to place creativity at the heart, especially for those experiencing inequalities in accessing culture and creativity.

During 2022 and 2023, our Create Health strand of work has taken a series of high impact actions in the form of 6 micro experiments to work towards legitimising community based arts and crafts activities alongside medical treatment as part of the personalised care model.
