Artist Commission: Lost In Music Interactive installation and engagement activities
Location: Gloucester Guildhall Dates: 26–30 August 2026 (5 days)
Fee: £6k (inclusive of all artist fees, materials, travel and expenses, including accommodation)
Deadline for proposals: 14.05.26 @ 9am
Theme: Lost In Music
Purpose: To immerse families in Gloucester Guildhall’s musical heritage through shared moments of music and dance, creating joy, escapism, connection and belonging.
Ambition: Playful, imaginative, contemporary and sensory responses exploring rhythm, sound, nostalgia, movement and the joy of getting “lost” in music. We welcome surprising moments in unexpected spaces and are committed to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion.
Audience: Family‑focused, with potential to activate the installation for older audiences across the week.
Dates, Times & Spaces
Festival dates: 25–30 August 2026
Open access: 10am–2pm (including designated relaxed times)
Spaces: Gallery, Bluecoat Room, George Hunt Room, cinema (while retaining cinema use), and unexpected spaces such as lifts, toilets and nooks
Project Timeline:
1. Site visit /concept development 01.06.26 - 22.06.26
2. Full programme announce date: 22.06.26
3. Supply install plans, Risk Assessment and Insurances: 25.07.26
4. Evaluation plan supplied: 01.08.26
5. Install: 25.08.26
6. Launch: 26.08.26
7. Ongoing programme until 30.08.26
8. De-install Tuesday 01.09.26
9. Evaluation 30.09.26
Who Can Apply
We welcome applications from artists, designers, creative technologists, theatre‑makers and collectives working across installation, interactive arts, sound, performance or participatory practice. We particularly encourage artists experienced in, or excited by, co‑creation and community engagement, and artists from marginalised and underrepresented backgrounds.
