Our new website has landed

Our new website is live! Whether you’re after a creative job, a workshop, funding for an idea or the next Create Local gathering, it should now be a couple of clicks away.

Our old site had grown page by page since 2011 and was showing its age. The new one has been shaped by our team, our partners and the people who use it most, and built with Licorne, with hand-drawn illustrations by Jolly Good Show.

Easier for more people to use

We built the site with access in mind from the start, aiming for the recognised standard for accessible websites (WCAG 2.2, level AA). If anything is hard to read or use, please tell us and we will put it right.

Who we are and what we do

It is now much easier to navigate through our five connected programmes: Create Local, Create Leaders, Create Health, Create Talent and Create Data. Each page leads you to the neighbourhoods, projects and people involved. Soon you will also be able to browse fifteen years of past projects, and see the stories about how our work has grown in partnership with Gloucestershire’s amazing artists, organisations and communities.

A learning library that will keep growing

Our new Learning library gathers stories, toolkits, resources and publications in one open place, free to read, download and adapt for your own work. It starts with our ripple effects mapping film, accessibility guidance and our Create Local principles, and will grow over the coming months as we turn more of what we learn into open resources. An opportunities noticeboard shaped by Open Space

At our Open Space in September, one message came through in almost every conversation: people don’t know what is happening or who else is out there. They asked for one place to find out what’s on.

Our improved Opportunities noticeboard brings arts and cultural jobs, events, workshops, funding and volunteering from across the county together, with filters to help you find what you’re looking for. That includes what’s coming up from CG, like Create Local gatherings and our new Catalyst Foundations course. Have something to share? Send it through the form on the noticeboard and we will add it: Submit an opportunity.

Saying goodbye to the directory

Long-standing friends may remember our online directory of artists and creative organisations. We set it up fifteen years ago, when there were few other ways to find creative people in the county. Social media profiles and people’s own websites have long since taken over that job, and our data showed the directory was hardly being used, so we have retired it. Thank you to everyone who listed themselves over the years.

Helping people across the county find each other is still high on our list. The noticeboard is the first step on our website, and if you have ideas for other ways of connecting and sharing, send them our way.

Tell us what you think

We would love to hear how you find the new site. If something is missing or hard to use, email connect@creategloucestershire.co.uk. And sign up to our newsletter for opportunities and learning straight to your inbox: Newsletter sign up.
