Create Data

Who wants to help make data work for Gloucestershire, and for the people who live here?

Glos Data Day returns for its third edition in 2027, bringing people from across Gloucestershire together to make sense of their stories and put them to work for the county. Create Data grows this event into a strand of our work to energise a data movement in Gloucestershire: more gatherings, more shared knowledge across systems, and growing support for communities to understand and use their own data to shape the decisions that affect them.

Glos Data Day

Since 2023, Glos Data Day has brought together over three hundred people from health, community, culture, business, technology, the NHS and local government to explore how to make data work for Gloucestershire.

It is a day for sharing, questioning and creating together, open to anyone who cares about the county and is curious about what data can do here. We work to make data creative and shared, so it speaks to more people than a spreadsheet can. Revealing Gloucestershire through many lenses, including creativity and nature, helps more of us see our place, and ourselves, in the numbers.

Where the group is leaning is the combination of data, creativity and nature to power change, with a central purpose: using data confidence and competence so Gloucestershire's residents and workforce can weather challenges and changes collectively.

Data Day 2027

Our next Data Day, taking place on 11 February 2027, explores how data, creativity and connection can help us navigate a changing world. Drawing on themes of nature, resilience and collective action, we'll consider how data acts as a shared root system: helping us understand what's happening around us, connect across communities and sectors, and make informed decisions together in the face of uncertainty.

Bringing together people from across Gloucestershire, the day will create space to learn, share and imagine how data can support a more connected, resilient and thriving county.

What is a Data Trust?

An idea we are investigating, where communities pool their data so they can negotiate with service providers from a stronger position, and have a real say in the services they rely on.

This work is at an early stage, and we will design it together with communities as it grows.

How this is part of the CG Mix

Like all our work, Create Data grows from the CG Mix: equity of voice, curiosity and creative collaboration. In practice that means:

We start from the questions communities are asking.

We treat the knowledge communities already hold as data in its own right.

We use data to move power closer to the people a place is about.

We make data creative and shared , so more people can take part
