Queer Fungi Workshops at Stroud Library

Join Queer Ecologist Izzy McLeod for creative workshops exploring the queer world of fungi.

Izzy will be running two workshops at Stroud Library, both of which are free to attend! You just need to book a free ticket at gloslibraries.uk/events.

Queer Fungi 101: Zine and Collage workshop
Sunday 14 June | 13:30-15:30

We’ll look at the ways that fungi challenge binaries and hierarchies, the ways mycophobia mimics the queer experience, and look at how some have become queer icons. Following a science talk from Izzy there will be time, materials, and prompts provided for you to create your own queer fungi inspired collage or zine.

Queer Fungi Interconnections: Embroidery and Applique
Friday 19 June | 16:00-18:00

In this workshop, we'll explore the ways that fungi make us question the way we think about the natural world. We’ll be focusing on symbiosis and challenging common assumptions. After a talk from Izzy there will be time to learn some embroidery and appliqué techniques and make your own piece of stitched fungi art to take home.
