Connect your community to UoG students!
GLOSBOUND : connecting students with Gloucester’s many communities to help reduce student loneliness.
I’m Bianca, the Education and Community Officer at the Students’ Union for the University of Gloucestershire. This year my priority campaign is GlosBound!
To give some context: two-thirds of UoG students (around 8,000) will now be based in Gloucester. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring more students into local shops, classes, volunteering groups, workplaces, and community spaces, while also showing them just how much Gloucester has to offer.
I’d love for you to be part of this campaign through two launch projects - You don't have to do both!
1. The GlosBound Passport
This will be a booklet (and online resource) filled with invitations and activities from community groups, businesses, and organisations across Gloucester. It’s designed as an easy guide for students to discover welcoming spaces and opportunities in the city.
If you’d like to be included:
Please send me your line of text by 1st September for the printed booklet. Anything received after that will still go onto the website.
Examples:
“Come try a gardening event with XYZ" “Feeling lonely? Join us at XYZ” “Try a Belgian beer with your friends at The Thirsty Pine – show your student ID for 10% off!” “Play a board game with friends at The Cavern”
2. Welcome Fayre
(17th September, Cheltenham Park Campus – 3,000+ students)
At my stand, I’ll be running a prize spin wheel. One of the prizes could be: An invitation to one of your activities A class pass, or anything that would encourage students to visit you If you’d like to contribute a prize, I’ll need to know (and have the item/voucher) by 15th September.
This campaign is all about showing students that Gloucester is full of life and opportunities and your involvement can make a huge difference. If you’d like to talk about it more or have any more ideas, please do contact me!
Looking forward to hearing from you! bholland@glos.ac.uk Bianca.
