Gloucestershire Data Day 2027
Weathering Change, Growing Together
Glos Data Day will return on 11th February 2027 bringing people from across Gloucestershire together to make sense of their stories and put them to work for the county. We’re inviting early session ideas and proposals as we explore how Data Day 2027 can be a catalyst for a wider ‘data movement’ in Gloucestershire.
Data Day 2027 will explore how data, creativity and connection can help us navigate a changing world. Drawing on themes of nature, resilience and collective action, we’ll consider how data acts as a shared root system: helping us understand what’s happening around us, connect across communities and sectors, and make informed decisions together in the face of uncertainty.
Bringing together people from across Gloucestershire, the day will create space to learn, share and imagine how data can support a more connected, resilient and thriving county.
Our 2027 themes are:
● Better Insights
● Better Planning
● Better Decisions
● Better Inclusion
● Better Collaboration
Help shape the agenda
Gloucestershire Data Day welcomes everyone, whatever their interests or background, to be part of shaping how data works for Gloucestershire. It’s a day for sharing, questioning and creating together, open to anyone who cares about the county and is curious about what data can do here. We work to make data creative and shared, so it speaks to more people than a spreadsheet can.
As we begin to pull together the programme for Data Day 2027, we’d love to hear from you:
- If you’d like to contribute a workshop, creative activity, presentation, display/stand on the 11th February 2027
- You have ideas for self-organised fringe events
- Or something else!
Participant registration for Data Day 2027 will open later in 2026.

Create Gloucestershire found that the arts and cultural sector wanted a ‘data boost’: more confidence, skills,
knowledge and a stronger data voice in the system so they could turn their insights into influence.
Conversations showed the same need across the voluntary and community sector. A cross-sector design
team formed around a shared ambition: to bring data to life for organisations and people across the county,
and help them make the change they want to see in Gloucestershire.

Data Day welcomes everyone from beginners to data experts who want to make information work better,
whether that’s collecting, analysing, storing or sharing it, or using it to make change happen.
Previous participants have told us they arrived thinking about ‘information’ and left thinking about ‘stories’. The
day surprised people. It unlocked power and potential, built knowledge and curiosity, grew confidence,
skills and connections. And it was fun!

An energising mix of sessions offering inspiration, ideas and space to talk and act together.
Our venue has a large main room (seating around 150, theatre style), and up to four flexible workshop rooms.
In the past we’ve had:
● Short keynotes exploring data, art and community
● Lightning talks of 5 - 10 minutes, sharing ideas or project case studies
● Workshops on different sides of data: from hands-on evaluation, teach-ins on key data sources, to making textile and visual artworks with data, and skills sessions on community data campaigns.
● An exhibition and marketplace with stands from different data projects, where people can drop-in for a conversation throughout the day
● Other activities such as ‘Dash battle: a ‘battle of the bands style’ showcase of data dashboards’, and audience participation in making data-driven music.

The Design Team will review submissions as they come in. Through November we will start shaping an outline programme, and we will be in touch to explore how your idea might work.
Your ideas stay yours. We won’t use or develop anything you share with us without your agreement and involvement. If your idea overlaps with someone else’s, we’ll talk to you both before anything goes ahead. Ideas we don’t take forward for Data Day 2027 won’t be passed on without your permission.

Our last two Data Days were bursting at the seams, so this year we are exploring whether a wider ‘festival of data’ in Gloucestershire could work, either in February, or in the future.
Fringe events are standalone events that run alongside the main day. If your idea works better as a stand alone event (for example, it needs more than 45 minutes, or is for a specific target audience), say so on the form.
If you need a venue of other support to make a fringe event happen, tell us in the comments box on the form. Depending on how much interest there is in a fringe festival, we will get in touch to explore the format with you.

There is no charge for contributors.
We have a small budget for speaker and workshop fees and expenses. It’s kept for people who aren’t being paid by anyone else to be there, such as freelancers. If you’re sharing your organisation’s work we won’t usually offer a fee or expenses, but please tell us in your submission if this would stop you taking part.
