Many young people have been adversely affected by the trauma of lockdown with the intensity of pressure during and following the peak of the pandemic. You’ve told us that so many young people feel lost and rattled by a sense of anxiety and uncertainty. A brilliant way of counteracting that sense of despondency and anxiety is to turn our focus towards a gentle, mindful activity; and we reckon we’ve got just the ticket in this evening’s workshop with the ever-imaginative artist Imogen Harvey-Lewis.
For this session we didn’t want to prescribe what you’ll be doing – we figured that if we offer a variety of ideas and combinations of materials, then it’s down to you and your imagination to “do your thing” with Imo helping to hone and shape your ideas.
For starters, we thought that perhaps creating an avatar or lead illustrated character might be a great first project. And then go on to incorporate your character into an illustrated design before up-scaling that onto MDF board so that you have a piece to take pride of place in your bedroom.
Now you’ve got the skills, you’ll be able to go on to develop ideas in your sketchbook and then work them up to a series of board-canvases and an impressive body of your work. Brilliant, right? All materials are provided, just bring along yourself and a few initial ideas and we’ll support you in translating those ideas into something utterly brilliant!
