Incubation and Support

2012 to present

We are part of the origin story of many wonderful creative projects and organisations across Gloucestershire. The artists and founders make it happen; our part is the quieter infrastructure that helps them establish themselves, stabilise and continue to thrive. We act as trusted colleagues and a sounding board for new ideas, notice and share gaps in provision and support creative people to move into the vacuum, share organisational systems and good governance, training routes and policy support, offer funding advice and signposting, and hold a safe space for informal coaching.

Many of the cultural powerhouses forging this work in Gloucestershire have come through Create Leaders programmes which helped them step into collaborative leadership in new ways and gave them the confidence and skills to establish, and/or build, arts organisations here. We continue to celebrate them and their journeys.

A few weeks ago, we launched a callout to artists and makers to submit their ideas to create work that could respond to, and connect individuals and communities across Gloucestershire in this time of crisis. We narrowed down the applications to these 8 talented artists who have each designed a project which will encourage new and uplifting ways for people to connect.

Getting started in the creative and cultural sector

Create Gloucestershire was fortunate to be involved in an life changing initiative, the Creative Employment Programme which supported 40 young people as paid interns and apprentices in 20 different creative organisations/SME’s in taking their first step into working in the creative sector. Of those 40 young people, over half of them were kept on by their employer or moved on to further study.
