We Begin in the Woods: LGBTQIA+ Wellbeing sessions in the woods

If you like being creative, enjoy spending time in the woods (with long drops included!), and want to meet new people, we’ve got some free mindful sessions in the Forest of Dean.

Across four seasons, we will gather in the woods, by the fire and learn simple, creative and nature-based skills, including grounding practices, sensory noticing, nest building, writing with natural materials and small publishing techniques.

Our sessions are five hours long.

Please bring your own lunch. Tea, coffee and snacks will be available throughout the day.

We have a small access fund if anyone is struggling with transport.

Waterproofs and sturdy footwear are recommended. Bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. Indoor areas will be available if there is bad weather.

Our sessions include gentle walking on uneven ground and spending time outdoors. We will always move at a slow pace and take breaks when needed. If you have any mobility needs or concerns about access, please let us know so we can plan the session with you.

We would love to know more about you and why you would like to join us. Places are limited so please make sure you can attend before committing. Places are restricted to those who go to college/ university, live or work locally, in Gloucestershire.

Together we will explore how slow, hands-on practice can support wellbeing, confidence and connection. We will also look at community publishing as a tool for visibility and self-advocacy, creating the beginnings of a shared archive made from our stories, materials and reflections. This is part of a new Field Notes methodology that helps people re‐author their experiences and build skills they can use in everyday life.

Brought to you by Queering the Wye.
